From my EDC 10 blog: Kress and aptness of mode

"I was glad then that I chose to begin tonight’s course reading with Gunther Kress’s Gains and losses: New forms of text, knowledge and learning (2005). Towards the end of the article, Kress emphasises the importance of considering the ‘aptness of mode’ (p19) when deciding how to reach an (educational) audience. ‘New media’ according to Kress, ‘make it possible to use the mode that seems most apt for the purposes of representation and communication’."
