More thoughts on dissemination structure

Over the weekend I spent a little bit of time developing the (draft) front cover for my web assignments. The fact that I can now include an interactive map as the front page means I need to rethink the previous structure whereby the contents page was to be called a 'map'.
[Homepage]
  • Image of a study space.
  • There will be a desk covered in various different study-related artefacts.
  • Each components (page) of the dissertation will be represented by a relevant artefact.
  • Each representative component will have a circle/sphere/glowing planet on it
  • The different spheres will be linked by white lines in the style of a constellation
  • The line could depict a significant artefact or symbol (is there an education constellation in the solar system?)
  • By clicking on any of the stars, a label appears, and the visitor can choose to be transported to the relevant part of the dissertation
  • I will perhaps need a brief explanatory note at the bottom.
  • The page would have an ambient background, slightly space like, perhaps with the sound that represents a message being sent back to earth by a satellite.
{Contents}
  • I thought about calling this page 'Map' however that might confuse the hyperlink image on the front of the site.
  • It could have a visual contents page, depicted by a spherical cut-out of the representative image of the front page, alongside some a short text description of what's in that section, maybe in the form of bullet points or key words.
  • This page would also include acknowledgements and other technical information. It would be my 'publishers' page at per the front of a book. In fact maybe I could play on that in a light and amusing way, but creating a digital equivalent?
I'll add to this page as other thoughts or ideas come to me.
